What I get asked most about styling
How to dress like yourself, spring cleaning your wardrobe and tips for finding your perfect pair of jeans
Hi, I’m Leigh. I’m a stylist and my interest and passion for styling is focused on how we feel in what we wear. How we dress is a form of self expression and I work to empower people to align their sense of self with their style and gain autonomy to dress with ease, clarity and confidence.
I tend to be asked similar questions about styling often.
I work to help transform personal style from a source of anxiety into a joyful form of self-expression. Guiding people to feel authentically aligned with their clothing choices rather than pressured by fashion trends.
One of the main questions or issues I find in working 1:1 with client’s is this idea of dressing ‘like me.’
‘How do I know how to dress like myself?’
Navigating this can be tricky, especially if you’ve had a lifestyle change recently or you’re simply maturing and your tastes, with it. I believe it’s inspiring to apply getting dressed as an extension of who you are, your essence, rather than scumming to what you think you ‘should wear.’

Next, how to edit and organise our wardrobes..
Should we hold onto things ‘in case’? Should we throw out pieces seasonally? How should we organise our wardrobe and how do we stay on top of it?
I share more on this in How To Spring-Clean Your Wardrobe..
007. HOW TO SPRING-CLEAN YOUR WARDROBE
I love a change of season. The subtle shift in temperature, light, atmosphere, mood, clothing. The feeling that something ‘new’ as well as nostalgic is in the air. Exciting, yet known.
There are often times in our lives where getting dressed feels foreign. We feel uninspired or lost or just lack motivation.
How do we get back to knowing what we want to wear?
Getting dressed is practical, but it is also deeply personal. How often to do you stop to reflect on how you feel and what you need before getting dressed?
Self reflection is a valuable tool in all areas of our lives, and getting dressed is no exception.
What we wear is a means of creativity, support and self expression, as well as being practical and necessary. It can feel big, overwhelming and confusing. So I highly recommend taking time to check in with yourself with these 5 questions to help ground the process..
X5 questions to ask yourself when getting dressed

Struggle with finding your perfect pair of jeans? You’re not alone.
Jeans are the no.1 item that seems to be elusive for so many of us. But after many years of shopping for myself and others, I have some tips that will hopefully help marry you with your perfect pair..
I work with many wonderful women in wardrobe styling sessions, and you may be surprised - or not - to know that many of us share common woes, thoughts, worries and set backs when it comes to getting dressed…
Some examples..
“I don’t know if this suits me.”
“I have a wardrobe full of clothes and feel like I have nothing to wear.”
“I’m always wearing the same thing.”
“I like that on someone else, but is it right for me?”
“I want to feel nice, but need to be practical.”
How do you overcome these blocks?
One way is with each other’s support..
Feeling confident, aligned and supported by your wardrobe starts with knowing the obstacles or ‘pain points’ that stand in the way of this feeling. And I often find, just by having someone to talk to about these thoughts, makes the task of tackling what to do about them instantly more approachable.
A problem shared is a problem halved and all that.. I share some more thoughts on this and some tangible steps on how we can all help each other get dressed below..
How we can help each other get dressed
I recently watched Dear Ms: A Revolution in Print on HBO Max about Ms. Magazine.
Feeling insecure or ashamed by your wardrobe, purchases or outfit ideas?
Again, you’re not alone.
I think often about the vulnerability in what we wear.. It can be a daunting thing, expressing ourselves through our wardrobe choices.
But the truth is, none of us really have it all figured out. We get dressed, we mess up, we learn, we adapt, we mess up again and around we go again. That’s life, and it’s true of what we wear.
I don’t believe we should ever feel shame about our outfit choices, wherever it worked or it didn’t. Experimentation helps us gain clarity over our style.
Here I share 3 tips on how to gain clarity, have fun and experiment, without the shame ..
The vulnerability in what we wear
I spent last Sunday on a You Tube deep dive listening to all my favourite speakers (I’m a wild one!) and I re-watched Brene Brown’s TED talk on vulnerability.
